Allan Gauntlett - Vice President
Allan’s journey with the New Zealand Hearing Association began over 40 years ago when a local hearing testing day first identified his hearing loss. This initial discovery led to further hearing assessments, as well as participation in lip reading and sign language classes. After a period away, Allan reconnected with the Association, becoming an active member of the Te Awamutu branch. His dedication led to six years of service on the National Board. Today, Allan continues his advocacy and support for the hearing community as a Member of the Hamilton Branch and Secretary Treasurer of the Northern Region.

Peter Arndell - Treasurer
Peter has been Treasurer of the Hamilton Hearing Association since May 2024, bringing over 20 years of leadership experience in the non-profit sector, including roles with Waikato Bay of Plenty Football and Motorcycling New Zealand. Now retired, he continues to serve the community as Treasurer for both Hamilton Hearing and Citizens Advice Bureau Hamilton, and as a Trustee for Volunteering Waikato, while pursuing his passion for travel.

Owen Dyer - School Programme Facilitator
A retired school principal and Justice of the Peace, Owen has been a dedicated member of the Hamilton Hearing Association since 1999. With a longstanding record of service—including 3 years as Secretary, 14 years as President, 5 years as Northern Region Chair, and 4 years as the Northern Region Representative to the National Executive—Owen now contributes through Hamilton Hearing Association's Youth Education Programme, promoting hearing health and awareness.

Bob I'Anson - Committee Member
Bob, a former President of the Hamilton Hearing Association, has been a dedicated advocate for our cause for many years. His leadership and ongoing service as a valued committee member continue to support our mission of improving the lives of those with hearing loss.

Dorothy Lovell - Community Liason
Dorothy is a dedicated and much-loved Rest Home Liaison at Hamilton Hearing Association, known for her warm, people-first approach and deep commitment to supporting the deaf and hard of hearing community. A proud grandmother and nature lover, she brightens lives with her compassion, homemade treats, and the cheerful company of Max, the Association’s beloved mascot.

Adél Hattingh - Operations Manager
Our Operations Manager Adél brings extensive experience in service management across the disability, mental health, and health and wellbeing sectors, alongside a strong commitment to community volunteer work, recognized through the Vibe Lifter and Safeguard Awards. Passionate about supporting vulnerable individuals—including the elderly and tamariki—she is dedicated to providing comprehensive assistance and look forward to connecting with and supporting the community.

Mary Ann Castillejos - Administrative Support Officer Volunteer
Mary Ann is a friendly and dedicated member of our team, bringing over 14 years of professional experience in Qatar and a strong background in administration, customer service, and hospitality. She has worked in hotels, food chain management, and front office operations, developing excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with ease. As our Administrative Support Volunteer, Mary Ann organises documents, maintains records, responds to inquiries, and helps keep daily operations running smoothly. Her warmth makes visitors feel welcome, while her professionalism ensures tasks are handled with care and precision. With experience in both the Philippines and abroad, Mary Ann is adaptable, resourceful, and passionate about giving back to the community—qualities that make her an invaluable part of our volunteer family.

Max - Office Pup
Resident Office Pup and Part Time Bird Chaser Meet Max, our beloved office dog and honorary team member at Hamilton Hearing Association, known for his beach adventures, love of tennis balls, and unwavering dedication to belly rubs. As the loyal sidekick of our Rest Home Liaison, Dorothy, Max pops into the office regularly to charm staff and members alike with his wagging tail and warm “woof” of welcome.
